About Me

Kristin Bowers is a Washington, D.C. based clarinetist.  She performs regularly at the Kennedy Center, the White House and other venues throughout the National Capitol Region.  Kristin held the position of Principal Clarinetist with the United States Air Force Band from 2010-2017, and is currently serving as the Assistant Principal Clarinetist of the United States Marine Band.  She has been a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall, and regularly performs as a chamber musician. Prior to her career in D.C, Kristin was the Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinetist of the South Bend Symphony.  She has been a featured soloist with the Akademisches Orchester of Leipzig as well as appearing several times as a soloist with the Wheaton Municipal Band.

While not performing, Kristin maintains an active teaching studio, working with students of all ages.  Many of her students have gone on to pursue degrees in music or participate in college music ensembles.

Kristin received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Indiana University as a student of Howard Klug.  She received her Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University, where she studied with Steve Cohen and Lawrie Bloom.

Kristin is a native of Downers Grove, IL.  She currently resides in Alexandria, VA with her husband and two daughters.  While not playing the clarinet, Kristin is an avid baker, reader and crafter.
